Portable hard drive query
Hi, I have just ordered a scanner to scan approx 2000 slides and negs so decided to put all the files on a seperate hard drive, but not being the sharpest tool in the box, I was wondering if I have to put another version of xp on the second drive plus other software I may need for sorting files etc. or is it merely a dump for files that I can drag out using the main system, if that makes any sense, sorry if this has been covered before.

Re: Portable hard drive query
It's only used for storage? If so when you connect it to a PC it will see it as a mass storage divice and ask you what you want to open the contents with. I used to do a similar thing with my disco, used an external hard drive to store the MP3's and plugged in to my laptop where the program was stored. Hope it helps... By the way, are the slides of your country and western cowboy outfit?!

Re: Portable hard drive query
What scanner did you buy? I'm looking at doing the same thing with a load of old negatives I've found.

Benefit with dedicated slide/neg scanners is the speed - especially if you have a lot to do...his had an auto-feed jobbie...very speedy |
