Applying ACF-50????
Quick couple of question for all the winter riders.....I have a K6 Sport, brand new and will be commuting all year round.(I have searched, but no posts actually mention what areas to spray to etc)What areas of the bike should you spray (will probably use a paint brush) the stuff onto? I know to keep well clear of brakes, but do people spray every other part of the bike???I also presume that I would need to reemove the fairings and then spray everything under there? What about the fairings and plastics themeselves? Or do peeps just spray the fasteners etc that hold them in place?I may sound like a numpty, but I don't want to spray something I shouldn't and also don't want to miss something that could equally do with a spray.Cheers to the Org, I wait patiently for the pearls of wisdom that you all normally give.Drew

Re: Applying ACF-50????
Make sure you so the allen heads aswell. They go lovely and furry really quick. But yeah, any metallic surface bar the brakes

Re: Applying ACF-50????
Blather the whole bike except the brakes, it won't harm anything.

Re: Applying ACF-50????
Also, as you said before, best to use a paintbrush as it goes everywhere if you spray the stuff.

Re: Applying ACF-50????
I got a bit trigger happy with mine the other day and sprayed absolutely everything apart from the brakes. Started her up and promptly filled the garage with smoke , smells really good though. I had the opinion that if I sprayed everything then it would burn off where it wasn't supposed ot be and stay put in the other places. Brake obviously avoided.

Re: Applying ACF-50????
Cheers for the replies Guys.I guess that is the answer then, remove the fairing, paint everything with ACF-50 other than the brakes, then put the fairing back and coat that also.(Obviousley I won't paint the seats and or instrument dial etc!!!!)What are peoples views on the bits under the seat etc? Will that need doing also? As I am a little aprehensive about undoing bits of the bike and all.Drew

Re: Applying ACF-50????
EVERYTHING! (apart from the brakes) I strip the plastics and seat off. Squirt the electrics too, inside the connectors if you can get them apart, take off the airbox and do all the parts under there too.
Makes it easier if you get the engine warm first, it helps spread the stuff out! I wouldn'y bother with the plastics, they get wiped off once a week. Don't bother cleaning too hard over winter, just rinse off with cold water so you don't rub off the ACF 50. |
Re: Applying ACF-50????
Cheers Bluepete, guess I will have a nice long day of winter prepping ahead of me!!!How long would you say it would take a complete newbie to do the whole bike? (So that I can plan it in).Drew

I was going to ask this one too!!
In the end I just coated everything on the bike bar the brakes, instruments, the lot, then started her up and caused lots of lovely sweet smoke!! Used half a can too..oops...I also have so scottoiler 365 stuff too that I will use after every wash but wont do that much washing over the winter! |
