Bike Transportation - Vehicle ideas please

Afternoon all,

I'm looking for a vehicle to act as a workhorse carting my track bike around (GSXR600K1) and various other bike related bits. I've got a problem with space though.

I was thinking about getting something like a Renault espace or similar ppl carrier and taking the seats out. I've seen it done before.

Just wondered if you lot had experience of gettinga bike into say,

A Ford Escort van?
VW Caddy van?
Renault Espace?
Vauxhall Frontera?
Bedford Rascal?

Any other suggestions?

:(

Have you thought about using a trailer?

Yeah but the problem for me is storage, I haven't really got anywhere to leave a trailer.

More so - I would've just bought a transit but the space outside my garage doesn't allow me to do so!

Ideally I'd like to get a slim van - but a cheap people carrier I thought could work just as well?

Probably going to be used my 40 times a year if that? Just for track days, taking loose wheels to garage, picking up engines, etc...

If you're thinking of something about the size of a Renualt Espace what about a peugeot expret/citroen dispatch/fiat scudo. Doesn't matter which as they're all the same van. and they're about the same size of the espace.

You can easily get a bike into the back of one of them with some room to spare

Or what about one of those fold up trailers? Should be easy enough to tuck away in the corner of your garage

B+Q have some trailers, not for bikes mind but sturdy all the same, that kinda fold up and you can wheel them down an alley. Pretty neat, and were all 1/2 price last time I looked.

I've been pondering on the very same question recently.

I've been looking at the Merc Vito's and the like.

They do seem a good van. any one have any views?

How about a suzuki Swift. I remeber Ben (21 Quest) using one to transport an SV

Id go for a cheap Transit in all honesty. 2 a penny, and cheap as chips.

If you look at cargo's then remember theres 2 lengths. You'll need a LWB version.

Only problem with the Ford Transit is that its too wide for the space I have to park it in!!

Nearly had one for less than £300!!

Peugeot Expert? Tall enough and long enough for a couple of bikes. Good engine too
