Digital Camera Advice
I'm thinking of getting a new camera for around the £200-£250 mark. I mainly want it for taking pics at track days/BSB races as well as a nice holiday camera.
I'm looking at the Canon S5 and the Fuji S9600 at the moment but open to more suggestions/recommendations. The camera I have at the moment seems to have a fairly slow shutter speed and I'm getting a fair few blurred and not quite sharp pics of race bikes so the camera has to have a fast shutter speed (and preferably a better photographer on the end of it!) |
Re: Digital Camera Advice
I would have thought you'll be looking at a "Bridge" camera for that sort of money... what you'll find for sports pictures is that there is a lag between pressing the button and the camera firing which is really really irritating and it makes it hard to get the shot you want as you have to allow for the shutter lag, if you dont you'll get grass or half of the object you want to take a picture of IMHO.
If it were me I'd save up some more pennies and get a DSLR which wont have those problems and also you'll get better pictures with a DSLR. IMHO. |
Re: Digital Camera Advice
I can afford a DSLR now but I can't really justify spending that kind of money on a camera that wont get used a huge amount. It'll probably get used about once every three-six months after the novelty has worn off! Would these cameras still be capable of taking fast shots? The shutter speed is 1/3200 and 1/4000 which seems fast but I think I'm getting confused with the terminology???

Re: Digital Camera Advice
I thought I wouldnt use my DSLR that much, but I do I use it alot. It takes much much better pics than my compact does so I use it all the time as the results are better.
I'm not to up on the technical stuff though so best to wait for somebody else to come along to answer your questions on shutter speed etc. |
Re: Digital Camera Advice
Once you've got it whittled down to a small number, have a look at dpreview.com
They do very comprehensive reviews and have pretty active forums where you can ask people who have the cameras what they think about them. |
