Would you buy a SV650R?
Ive often thought with the amount of people that modify their SV's to become better at handling or braking or just look better... What if Susuki did a R model of the bike?
Maybe they could increase power to about 80-90BHP Put a propper full fairing on similar to the Gixxers, put gixxer USD forks and brakes on, Nice swing arm and shocker perhapse a little more sporty in general but obviously still a lot cheaper than the Gixxer's. Who would actually be interested in something like this? Pleas vote and reply. :smt023 |
Re: Would you buy a SV650R?
You mean a bike that has the same kind of chassis features as a GSX-R but with a hotted-up SV-650 engine?
Probably would list for about as much as a GSX-R. Myself, I like my little K7 for what it is except for two key areas: The econo-calipers on the front (though they're OK with more aggressive pads installed) and the damper rod fork that doesn't feel like something from the 21st century (more like the 11th century). |

Re: Would you buy a SV650R?
I'd love a more powerful SV with better aerodynamics- USD forks would be nice, but not strictly a necessity. Just more power, better handling (ie shocks and brakes).
At the risk of derailing and repeating many long threads, I'd love to see an SV800 or 850S. That would almost definitely be my next bike if Suzuki did it. I want a bigger V-Twin for the next bike, but think that many of the sportier twins may be just a bit of a big step- ie 71bhp to 130bhp... Of course, it'd have to be more curvy than pointy. 'cos they're so much nicer!! |
Re: Would you buy a SV650R?
More than happy with what it is and does.
I enjoy boinging about on the past-it (front) suspension and will mod it when the fork seals burst. If I wanted more powa! I would buy a larger capacity twin AND get the real benefit of more TORQUE. Half-faired , clip-oned 750/1000 aprilia Shiver please!:smt023:smt055 |
Re: Would you buy a SV650R?
If Suzuki did offer a more expensive 'R' version of the SV then I think they'd be missing the whole point of the bike and why it's so successful.

Re: Would you buy a SV650R?
Would take the whole fun out of making a bike your own...I always feel sorry for the bikers that pull into a carpark on a runout and see a row of bikes the same. Or maybe people like being seen as lemmings???
