Lost Balaclava - Breath Mask Which One?

I lost my silk balaclava last night and man did I notice the difference this morning. I was amazed at how much a thin layer like that makes such a difference.

So I am heading out to replace it today.

My questions are these:

1. Which is the best breath/anti-fog mask to buy, like the foggy? With this cold weather I need it badly.

2. If I buy one of those can I also us the balaclava?

Cheers,
Kev

1. I've got an Oxford one, it works well for me.

2. Yes I do.

Mogs thanks for the reply, so the balaclava goes under the mask?

Does it totally stop misting?

Is it comfortable? Any issues?

I've got a foggy and it really helps with misting. I dont use a balaclava as I dont like them but theres no reason you couldnt use both.

The foggy attatches the inside of your lid so it wont interfere with the balaclava.

As Fizz has said the breath guard fits into your lid. Mine's fitted using velco, I had to sew the patches in, the self-sticky didnt last long. There's a solt metal strip on the mask to go over the bridge of your nose, you then shape it to fit. Some people can't get along with this as it's very close to your eyes. It took me a while to get used to it. The bottom of the mask is more like netting. None of your breath gets to the visor.

The balaclava I have doesn't cover my mouth and nose, so it doesn't break the seal between the mask and my face.

I have the pinlock insert on my Shoei and that works better than the foggy I use in the HJC. The other product that worked well on the visor, but needed applying and then re-applied later was the "Bob Heath Antifog" liquid.
Does anyone use the little pink stick they sell at the bike/car shows on their visors?

Get a pinlock or fogcity visor insert, they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. I can't understand why everyone doesn't have one. Easy to clean and replace too. I also have a Foggy brand neoprene breath deflector thing that velcros into my helmet. I have that coz on cold days the air coming under my chin makes my eyes tear, making me look like a drunk driving crying schoolgirl. The Foggy if put in right prevents about 95% of air (including that from your breath) getting up into the visor area. The ONLY thing the pinlock or fog city inserts does not solve is that fine dirty mist on the outside of your helmet, for that you can wipe off with your glove or get one of those little finger squeegee things like a wiper blade. Get the pinlock, you'll wonder why you went without all these years! good luck -D

I also use to wear a balaclava at home in the US on sub-freezing days with a pinlock, it should not affect anything. You can have your cake and eat it too.
