Tank protectors - all the same?

Are they, or are some recommended above others?

Bought one off eBay 3 weeks ago and it failed to materialize, so I'm shopping again.....

All the same other than surface area, and material.

I hate the look of them myself, i know they serve a purpose though. I use a protective wax coating and consider the issue when buying gear to avoid having to put one on.

Thanks - I've not got one at the moment but I almost always have a tank bag on with me, and I've noticed the little scratches getting bigger and bigger.

If I go for a black one it won't stand out too much I think, the need for one is functional, rather than aesthetic ya see.

Cheers

Coats of hard wax a couple of times a year do the job for me. Once it looks tatty, then you can cover it up with a tank protector. ;)

What clever thinking. I'll hang onto my pennies for the moment.

Hard wax is just normal car wax, but slightly, well, 'harder'. Takes a bit more elbow grease to apply (but still easy), lasts a fair bit longer than normal wax. Your local max power reader's emporium of car tat should sell it (it's a type of wax, not a brand). I bought a tin for £1 a few years back and I've still got half left.
