Siezed Fasteners - an answer?

We all know that there are regular threads about broken bolts etc on here. Here is a product that I came accross in work the other day......

...first item on this page-

I haven't bought any to try it yet, but it could be on my next order from RS......

I note also that this on-line shop sells various extractors too.

Cheers,

Garry:cool:

I've got a couple of similiar products, I think one is Loctite and another is Maplin chewing gum remover. Seems to be fairly effective.

I like that page so much, it's now a favorite! Never tried anything like that yet though.

Loctite freeze and release is good stuff, definately part of the arsenal to try before reaching for the gas torch.

Seems that the freezer effect and a sharp tap can break the siezure.

I've got a large bottle of refrigerant in the garage! now I need a rusty fastener to practice on.

Nice product. Reckon it can't be too different to refrigerant. You can get tins of car a/c gas in Halfords now which will probably do exactly the same job. Not sure what the cost is though.

Can you spray people with this, freezing them solid, then smash them into a million tiny pieces like in T2?

Why?

Have you got someone you really don't like?

Soak in diesel overnight and give a sharp twist in the wrong direction (tighten) to break the seal seems to work, but these look interesting, I might have to have a look.
