Clutch Switch
Hi
I have an sv650 year 2000. I was just wondering if anyone knew if there is a way to bypass the clutch switch so there is no need to pull in the clutch lever when starting the bike?. Although i know this is probably a safety feature of the bike, but i have had a few problems with the bike being 'dead' when i press the starter switch and i think this may be the cause of the problem. Look forward to any help. Thanks |
Re: Clutch Switch
Yes, just pull the two connections off of the switch and connect them together.
And make sure it's not in gear next time you try to start it. |
Re: Clutch Switch
as above
i bit of wire pushed in each one will do the trick, just to test it |
Re: Clutch Switch
Thanks for the advice . As for the first reply the bike was definately in neutral. Just wondered if this is a common fault with SV?.

Re: Clutch Switch
Morning all.
Clutch switches are a little problematic on most bikes, as quality wise they're somewhat akin to a 2 bob Taiwanese radio:D. When attempting to diagnose intermittent starting problems on any model, always bypass such switches one at a time, that way it's easier to identify the faulty one. Cheers. |
Re: Clutch Switch
also check sidestand switch & the kill switch
|
Re: Clutch Switch
And the relay the sidestand switch controls if all else fails.

Re: Clutch Switch
clean the side stand of gunk as the realy wasn't working properley on a mates and it was cutting out as the side stand relay was coming on at traffic lites

Re: Clutch Switch
Hi
I am having a lot of problems and I am sure it is down to the clutch switch, I assume this will be the same for the pointy model too. Quote:
