Led Zeppelin tickets - what would you do?

A friend of mine called me up last night, with a bit of a dilemma.

His GF is a bigtime Led Zeppelin fan, and although he isn't really into them he entered the ballot to try and win tickets to their gig - the first in 19 years, and apparently a one-off (though there are some rumours flying around about a subsequent tour)

1 million people applied for 20K tickets - and he's just found out he's been allocated a pair!

Now, the dilemma - it's her 30th on Saturday and she'd be over the moon to get a ticket.

BUT similar tickets are currently changing hands for around £5K each  so there's a HUGE temptation to sell them on. He could get her a really nice prezzie for that money and still have loads left over…or he could sell one and send her on her own (but that wouldn’t really be the same would it?!)

What would you do??

Would anyone here give up £5K for a concert ticket??

They're on the ball about tickets exchanging hands. I severley doubt you can do it. Personally- if I knew I could get away with it I'd sell the tickets. even £1k buys a lot of nice time together which will always be better than aged rockers stroking their egos.

Depends if they need the money or not. £5k is one hell of a lot of wedge!

Can't he ask her what she'd prefer? It's not a small decision, not with that kind of money involved.

Personally, unless I was loaded, they'd be straight on fleabay :smt024

They're saying that you'll need to bring along the credit card that you used to buy the tickets, in order to get in. So anyone spending 5K on a ticket might be disappointed.

If she likes the band the tickets didn't cost him the earth, go along. He didn't pay £5K for them, and if some people did then that's their call, he's not "lost" £5k by going to see them. It's worth finding out if you can sell them and they be useful to the person you give them to though...

The one absolute certainty is He should tell her he got them up front, and (if they can be sold easily) ask her if she fancies going or wants to sell them. If he sells them without consulting her and she finds out it's likley to cause a ruck!

They're not going for anything like 5K on Ebay. More like £500.
