Xbox 360

I've been offered one for £70.

Core unit, unused but pretty old (he used to work for them so had a few lying around).

Seems like a good price to me but chances are I'll get a PS3 at some point; bearing in mind I'll need to buy a hard drive, extra controllers and all that garb shall I just put the cash towards PS3 games? ....

TBH the xbox 360 is as good as the PS3 (better cos of more games). If you arnt bothered about blue-ray go 360 IMO. Better to go PC over either though! ;)

Re: Xbox 360

By the time I have the hard drive £100, wireless £50, Xbox live subscription (£no idea) and HD DVD drive £120 I might as well have bought a PS3....

I'm not a big fan of PC gaming, I know it's graphically better/faster/... but I quite like the ease and social side of a console.

You are getting a 120GB for that money, not 40. Also, the XBOX360 is very easy to connect to PC for photo/music downloads uing Media player.

A yearly subscription to xbox live is less than £40. If you really need the HD DVD (I take it you have a decent TV) then Xbox are doing a special - under £120 and you get 5 free HD DVDs included - there's a limited choice but there are some decent films offered.

Aren't the 'new generation' of Xbox games going to be on HD DVD though? Otherwise I can't see them competing with the PS3. I use a mac so PC connectivity won't really help.

TBH Blue ray is a gimmic! They arnt anywhere near filling DVD's yet! So I wouldnt hold your breath on them being needed! ;)

I would take it...... I keep playing my friends 360 and its awsome.

PS3 hasnt got the games or the online network to even slightly challenge the xbox.

I was playing COD 4 last night online, and its amazing. I will be addicted beyond belief when i get mine.

you dont really need to be splashing out on a Harddrive either, a £10 256mb card is more than sufficient for saving alot of games and having a live profile, my mates is rammed full of stuff and only half used.

You wont need an additional controller all that much, and you dont NEED to connect upto the internet on wireless. ALso a 12 month live subscription can be had for £26 somewhere online, i will find the link.

Basically get one. I completely underestimated the 360 for all this time and was a PS lover. I'm now a convert. Until you have a proper play with a range of games and go online you just dont realise.

Beware the early ones, they are prone to dying (something about dodgy solder being used?). It seems a sound deal, am you could probably get the extra bits cheap off ebay though! Xbox Live is the best online gaming thing I've come across, its what makes having a 360 so worthwhile

Oh yea, good games....FarCry (fun!), Rainbow Six Vegas. My brother has both and they kept him amused for months. Good online community for both games
