s/steel Carbon Can Co

1 Attachment(s)
went to the bike show at GMEX manchester & picked up a new can.
there were a few companies there selling end cans. i went for the s/steel oval from Carbon Can Co. like the one below

Attachment 1029

me & a mate thought we would give it a go when we got back.
junior hack saw - not a chance
electric jigsaw - nope

angle grinder - now thats a tool i should use more often. like a hot knife through butter. only problem, the disc on it was too small to get all the way through the link pipe on the original system, so i have to get a 7" disc tomorrow to finish the job, then the new slip on should be fitted in about 5 minutes.

anyone got experience of Carbon Can Co end cans?

you can get most of the way with the 4" then do the last bit with a hack saw that way no waiting to hear that sound :)

we are about half way through i reckon - poss' a 3" disc on the grinder at the moment & its the only 1 i have. pitch dark now anyway & no power in the shed, so i would have to wait until tomorrow anyway.

the anticipation is half the fun.

Might be stating the bloody obvious but don't forget to protect your swing arm if using a bigger wheel. I used a full size hack saw with a 22 TPI blade (I think) and it pi55ed it. Happy new exhaust :D

steveg - did ur can have a baffle with a rivet holding it in? did you get it out?

Ratty - it does no harm to remind people to be careful, so i thank you for your advice

Yep I have the same can very nice sound. They are all just about the same as far as removing the stock can. I took an extra 20 minutes to remove the down pipes and cut it lying flat on the floor. Much earier and I was through it with a grown up hack saw in 1 minute.

we considered the idea of removing the down pipes, but with sun going down & no light in the shed we opted for the 'quicker' option. in reality now we have to wait until tomorrow so not so quick really.

greg, did you get the baffle out?

When I got mine I swore I would remove the baffle one day. You can drill the rivet out but I never did and I've had mine for 7 months now it just sounds great as is and that's how they developed it.
