just need to vent a little anger :smt013

this evening some dirty little jobless, clueless, stratty, scrotum barstool thought he'd help himself to my bike.

ok so its only a crappy 125 aprillia habana and worth roughly zilch (invaluble to me for getting me to work and uni quickly) but it's my crappy 125 scooter!!

my neighbour knocked on my door this evening and told me she saw 2 "scraggley" looking lads pushing my bike down the street.

what could they possibly hope for......
1. you couldn't sell it for a tenner
2. they can't ride it on the streets (police aware it's stolen)

so they steel it, wheel it out of sight, smash it up to hotwire it and have a spin round on it till they get bored and then park it in the nearest canal!!! brilliant and well worth the hastle it will cause me no doubt. I spent nearly 2 hours running round the local woods looking for it. as for insurance, probably not covered as it wasn't chained up (i was planning on using it later). they just don't seem to understand that i need that crappy scooter to commute on and that as a poor student i can't afford to replace it.

I just don't get it.... if you want something.... buy it! don't steel mine

i'v had this bike stolen and smashed up before and managed to chase them and recover it and get it back to working order. this time however the police couldn't be less interested i'm told they will be in touch if they need to. i asked if they wanted a statement and was told again 'they will be in touch if they need to'.

well thats my little rant over and i'm sure that more than a few of you have had your pride and joys relieved of you by some scruffy little t**t.

and i suppose just to a reminder, bikes are only too easy to steel and it can be easy to become complacent.

I felt exactly the same when that first happened to my scooter. I wonder why the police are not interested, oh yes they are only interested in revenue for the goverment...................

No offence intended BUT they only seem interested if its a quick easy job requiring litte amount of work. For example road users, quick easy.

I hope you have some luck with this! Id be VERY upset if this happened to me! :smt056

bugger, sorry to hear about your bike :(

Fingers crossed that you're able to find it again and it's not in too bad a state. BTW have you considered offering local kids a reward for info about where the bike is? That's worked for a couple of mates of mine in the past, as it's usually kids who take the smaller cc bikes

i know and can completely understand why west yorksire police won't be dispensing all their units to find my bike...... it just sucks thats all!!!!

what really did it for me tho was when the chap on the phone told me that if they did find it they would take it away and store it for safety and fingerprinting or what ever and that i would have to pay 155 pounds as a storage fee and 12 per day there after.

TBH I doubt that... there arnt enough cops to notice. It wont be noticed on the road unless its speeding somewhere. :rolleyes:

Sorry to hear about the ped

As for the police, my lad had is moped nicked and we got roughly the same feeling from the police, but, because it went out that it was stolen, the next day a police car saw a moped that fitted the description in a town 12 miles from hear (so they do talk to each other) then the chase started, 3 acrs and they even got the helicopter on it.
They recovered it, it was a bit smashed up & I had to pay over £100 to get it back (only insured 3rd party) but my lad was happy.

There may be hope yet

as i was tearing down the street the girl shouted "well it was about 5 minutes ago" :confused: well at least she did something. more than others would have


once again just a reminder

i used to leave it unlocked on the streets "just for the night" and think nobody would want to nick it. apparently they would.
so i became more vigilant and tucked it away out of sight down the side of the house by my bedroom window, always chained it up when away from the house and only ever left it unchained when it was parked by my window and i intended to use it again soon (lazyness).
apparently this slight lapse is all it takes so please make full use of your chains, alarms and disc locks!

Well I know how you feel. I had a garage door ripped open (old wooden doors) ripping the lock from the wood, good wood at that. Someone nearby then watches them push both my bikes out and mess about hot wireing them for ten minutes. After they went they popped over and told me they saw me bikes stolen.. but could not really get a good view of the scroats who took em. Just great. That put me out of the middleweight bike fun for 14 years as insurance was telephone numbers high even on small old car it went through the roof so I didn't bother. To be charged recovery AND storage by the law enforcement just rubs salt in the wounds. I just hate this country with the clobber the victim attitude. Rant over.

It don't get any better. :(
