Garage Rental

Hello

Not been on this forum for a while, most likely because I've not had a bike and thought I could go without for a while - ha!

Anyway, hope this is in the right section.

I moved to London in december, west hampstead to be precise. I don't have a bike at the moment but have a real hankering for something big and thirsty (sp-1 probably). Now, naturally, I can't be having that on the street and the flat that I stupidly decided to live in doesn't have any sort of protected parking outside. So I've looked to renting a garage or preferably a 'space' in a garage.

Does anyone know the best sources to find garages/spaces in London?

Thanks. :)

London Newbie.

Welcome to London dude :D

Watch out for the bendy buses wont you

Anyhoo.... garage space in London is like gold dust mate, specially round West Hampstead. I know, i used to sell property from an office on West End Lane and we always used to get asked this question.

I'd suggest riding/walking up n down some of the roads in South Hampstead, thats the bit bitween W.E. Lane and Finchley Road. Most of the houses on Compayne Gdns and the others have front drives. Maybe look out for one with a bike or 2 on it and stick a nice note on there?
No guarantees cos peeps with big houses can be real a-holes but hey if they got a bike they might not be all that bad.

good luck.

and if you get an SP1 make sure you get yourself up to the Soho meet so we can all enjoy the sound of it wont you.

Hi Spiderman.

Thanks for replying. It pretty much confirms my suspicions but was hoping the story would be different. It took me 6 weeks of hunting on gumtree to find the current place and it was positively soul destroying - I seen about 6 places, 2 were to die for and they had garages (wilesden green area) but it's a lottery as to who gets picked as a tenant.

I would consider moving again to a place with a garage but I've got it so good at the moment (£500 pm all inclusive, edge of lymington road on west end lane pretty much) that it will be hard to move on. Depressing stuff.

On the whole, I'm loving london though and everything it has to offer, my presence at one of the meets would be a certainty should everything work out!

Cheers. :)

I'm still finding my feet in London so to speak, give it time, bike or no bike I'll make my 1st appearance. I've only been to soho once and that was last saturday (£30 a round for 4 drinks eek!):D but love it already.

have you tried searching on the web? there are a number of sites which advertise parking spaces/garages for rent, so you might find something through that, e.g. http://www.parkatmyhouse.com/
