Comming along derby road in nottingham today as usuall, hit some black sheet ice and down i go.. thank god for the R&G's minimum damage to the bike, my knee feels like someone is jumping up and down on it.. and im still at work.. hardcore me :smt017...
im the fourth vehicle to crash there this morning including a massive bus.. the council didnt even grit the road last night... im hurting but thank god my bike is all good. :smt049 |
Re: Lylej down :(
Well elast your up and about, and that the bike is ok; maybe you should get the knee looked at if its not got any better by the end of the day yea?
Take care people It did get really cold last night :smt017 Matt |
Re: Lylej down :(
black ice sucks, I have no idea why the council don't grit roads that they know are prone to it. When I lived in a previous house, the nearby street always used to ice up, but being a main road in town there were soooo many accidents as people just didn't expect it...
anyway hope your knee is feeling better soon! |
Re: Lylej down :(
Hope your ok.
Very icey down south this morning, with some stretches solid black ice. Be careful out there! |
Re: Lylej down :(
could i claim if the council failed to grit the road?
im not the claiming type but im not in position to have any time off work at the mo hence why im here in severe pain its now spread to my back... :( |
Re: Lylej down :(
Possibly yes you could. Id in the first instance give this company a call - www.sorrymate.com they have been recommended by many of our customers. If you do get somewhere with them mention Sarah at Steve Jordan Motorcycles gave you their details as I saw their rep the other day and he said he may help with some racing costs if i recommend them. Plus they donate profits to the air ambulance charities.
They should at least tell you if you have a claim. IMHO the council should keep the roads safe for all users. Get some advice, take a copy of last nights weather forecast if you can find one still - ie local paper etc. If it states it was going to be freezing then the council should have taken steps to grit the roads. |
Re: Lylej down :(
Glad you'll fix easily, and the bike ain't that badly damaged.
I just looked out of the window, it looks grim. I think I might use that red thing down there today...I think they call it a car, but it's been so long since I've had one, I could be wrong. (God bless my ex-girlfriend, she emigrated to Oz and gave me it before she went on Thursday, she even put a full MOT on as well.) |
Re: Lylej down :(
on the plus side: At least you got your knee down!!!

Re: Lylej down :(

Re: Lylej down :(
glad your not too badly hurt & remember 'where theres blame theres a claim'
the council/highways agency/police knew about the black ice because there had been previous accidents. get in touch with a solicitor - at least you could get the price of the bike repairs back |
