Alarm - Will it affect my warranty?
I am toying with buying an alarm and there's one on ebay here:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LATEST-Hi-TECH...QQcmdZViewItem I'm coming round to the thinking that it's better to have an alarm rather than nothing. The thing is, will it effect my bikes 2-yr warranty - bought SV new from dealer last May? I don't want to make a hash of fitting an alarm so would appreciate some feedback please i.e. Are they really easy to fit and how long would I expect it to take to fit one. I want a neat job doing. All helpful comments are very much appreciated. |
Re: Alarm - Will it effect my warranty
no, your warranty was effected by suzuki when the bike was registered
i don't know if fitting an alarm will affect your warranty though... HTH;) |
Re: Alarm - Will it effect my warranty
Don't do it - if you really must have an alarm at least buy a reputable make like Meta. I can almost guarantee you'll have problems with a cheapie ebay one.

Thanks Lozzo,
What should I be paying for a decent alarm that I don't need to do a auto electricians course to fit please. |

Thanks Lozzo - once again.
I'll start looking for someone in Leeds who'll fit one without ripping me off. :) |
Re: Alarm - Will it effect my warranty
One thing that might be important if you're doing it to get cheaper insurance. My insurer required that I send them a part of the paperwork to prove that it had been fitted by an authorised person who'd done whatever training was required by Datatool.

Re: Alarm - Will it effect my warranty
It should't affect Suzuki Warranty but, did you get the gap insurance when you bought the bike???
I almost did when I got mine but read the smallprint first. Apparently, it is void if any non manufacturer parts are fitted to the bike. I knew that I would be fitting tailtidy and exhaust etc so questioned this with the dealer. He said that he couldn't see it being a problem but I didn't want to pay ?200 insurance for something which was open to debate in the event of a claim. If you have the gap insurance I would strongly recomend getting them to to say yes or no in writing before getting it fitted. |
Re: Alarm - Will it effect my warranty
I have a data tool 4 on my bike, which I got put on it when I bought the bike, being London I decided to have it, also after seeing my alarm scare off a scrote from messin with 125 I knew it was a good idea, I nearly got him as well:D
