Front and rear crash bungs
 

I am looking for some front and rear crash bungs for my curvy sv. The only problem is i am skint and dont wanna spend to much on them. I know the cheap ones on ebay are gash. Also i dont wanna modify my fairing.

Any ideas are welcome.

I would have recommended the JHS crash bungs, but apparently they have stopped making them. The next best option are Motosliders (http://www.motosliders.com/MS-1.html) as these, along with the old JHS ones, actually sit in the right place and offer the best protection. Motosliders are US based but ship worldwide and are excellent value for money compared to other commonly available products.

Don't waste your time with any that mount to the cylinder mounting bolts (motrax and almost any other manufacturer), they are to weak to offer any serious protection.

Personally I wouldn't fit R&G's either, although they are better than most of the others on the market! Problem is they fold to easily, because the mushroom mounting bolt is not up to the job. I have seen this several times now and won't recommend them until the problem is fixed.

Personally I think it's a good way to absorb some of the impact, and it's the chamfered bung itself that's the problem not the tensile strength of the bolt.
A fair principle, but it's still wrong.

I'd get motosliders, they're also ?20 cheaper than R&G or thereabouts iirc

I didnt have any probs with my R&Gs on both occassions when my bike hit the floor, one small spill at bout 10mph and the last was a rear end shunt.

The bolt still bends with non-chamfered bungs. Anyway this isn't the point, for best value for money and protection it has to be the Motosliders at just short of £50 shipped.

I'd rather the impact was absorbed by the bolt bending rather than breaking, or the bung shattering (which I have seen happen). So the bung bolt bends, big deal, it saved the frame. Buy a new one...fit it, move on.

They aren't made to look pretty, and they aren't made to look pretty after a crash.
