not saying it makes you a biker, just something you;d expect most bikers to know really wouldnt you. if you said to an aeroplane enthusiast who was the inventor of aeroplanes they'd know wouldnt they. So you;d expect the same from people who are passionate about bikes lol

define motorcycle ? does a steam engine count or are you talking about the german car maker ?

And IMHO I think "BIKER" isn't anything like a plane enthusiast, it's a lifestyle choice not just a hobby, you don't need to know who invented an engine to fix one, I'll be more defining than that a "BIKER" isn't just a rider, or owner, or mechanic, it's an attitude, you can have all the above and not be one, but then I'm no more qualified to say than anyone else I suppose :smt102, as everyone has their own image of it, then of course it's also whether you feel you need to convince others you are.

Does the latest Jap big bore sports thing do it ? or a chrome laden Harley? the black leathers, the power ranger suit ? commute everyday ? ability to polish bits, have a rat bike? so many ways others view it, you can only please yourself is MHO.
