SV used price

I have been looking at trading in my 2007 SV650 sport for something with more grunt etc.
I saw a nice 2005 SV1000 sport at local dealer it was up for £3695 , after having a good look round it I asked what sort of deal can we do.

Well to cut a long story short he said he'll give me £3000 for mine, and that includes all the mods i have done ( Tailtidy, exhaust etc etc) meaning i'll have to pay him £695 extra.

Correct me if i'am wrong but that means the bike has lost approx 1/3 of its price in 7 months.

Is the dealer having a laugh or is that what these bike's fetch these days:(

That sounds about right; he's a stealer so you'd get more privately anyway, and the bike's going to be second hand so it'll fetch him less when he comes to sell it, especially if it's got a lot of miles.

Probably. My 570 miles £5,500 bike got £3000 offered by a dealer on a trade in, we sold it on ebay for £4000.

You'll usually get a better price privately - your dealer is actually offering you not a bad deal (for a dealer)>

SV 1000 nearly three years old.How much was that when new?Why is it now still so much considering what yours has lost in 7 months?Thats where the dealer makes money as privately owned vehicles depreciate hugely while used vehicles sitting in showrooms hold their value like bullion in a recession;)
You will always lose massively if you buy new and sell early.Id try to see a way to keep your present bike. Many of us will testify that the grass aint much greener where you are going.

I am thinking of selling my K6 on a 07 plate, it's done just over 4k miles, to be honest if I manage to clear the outstanding finance I will be happy.
One possible thing in our favour now is that the SV is no longer on 0% finance, so buying a brand new one is no longer as attractive as it was last year!

The CBR600RR is on 0% now though :)

Hey, that's not on... Do you realise the trouble you could get me in by posting this? ;)

I deliberately ignored the 600RR whilst I was in Motoden yesterday, way to tempting!

Well to compare, I was offered £2500 for my K5 650S yesterday in px. It's got 11k on the clock, is due a service and will shortly require an MOT. I was pretty happy with that, given the expense I'd shortly have if I kept it.

I have the same sv650 sport, 2007, £3000, was the magic number, when i was enquiring yesterday, at 2 dealers, I was told the first 12 months you take a BIG HIT, Hence losing £1500, :( after this the depriation slows down.:)
I was offered £2800 on a trade in on a 2008 z750, which is over £5k,:smt013 so in relation to that, you were offered a good deal.............still sucks though........i will probably go down the nearly new road next time......let someone else take the hit.

How much are new sv650s these days ?

I bought mine new almost 2 years ago for 3700 and that included first 3 services for free as well ( worth say 400 quid ) so 3300 for a new bike seemed good to me ?

Its now got 26k onit and prob worth 2k , however worth more than that 2 me .

Cheers Steve
