Why Me!!

I wonder if this is some sort of record I am setting :(

When I bought my Civic Type-R, I had it 5 days before getting rear-ended by a chick who was sitting behind me in stationary traffic, in gear, dropped her fag and jumped...wasn't chuffed.

Now...picked up a very shiny new CBR600RR on Saturday morning at 08:30...and on Sunday at 13:05 I got swiped off it by a guy through central London :( Total ownership time...28hrs and 35mins!!

Standard stuff I imagine...I was rolling up to a set of lights about 30m away, doing maybe 15-20, no more than that. He just didn't look, nipped out of a side street to my left really fast and took me out on the left leg/left fairing...and down I went :( I just wished I'd seen it coming or something, but I reckon he gave me no chance as he literally drove into me from the side.

Guy was very apologetic and admitted liability at the scene in front of a witness, gave me all his details, so hopefully will be a quick win. I was literally just pushed over and came to rest about 2 metres after he doofed me, but all plastics are screwed and various bits sheared off :( He had his 7 or 8 year old son in the car with him and it took a lot of nice words from me to convince him that daddy wasn't going to get lamped by a ****ed-off biker!!! Although the poor little guy did say "daddy he broke your car"...I didn't feel like answering that!

So if anyone saw a very miserable looking bloke in Shoreditch with a bruised and grazed Hannspree CBR and a bruised and grazed leg...yup, was me :(

Next time I buy anything I'll be scared to take it out the showroom!!!

That's rubbish. It's not the same having a new bike that's already been repaired, regardless of who pays for it. At least you kept your cool!

Well there was no point shouting and screaming, as much as I really wanted to do it!! :)

I guess this is the hazard you face every day in London...just can't legislate for the 1 idiot who fails to actually see you, even though you are in front of him!! Had another look at it this morning, really does just look like plastics that are needed. Even the right hand bar-end only got a tiny scrape when I went down. Didn't even take off the indicator!!

Well done for keeping your cool, you remember how scary things like that are to a little kid.

No way, thats not fair, cruel cruel world. Glad your ok though. Perhaps you should have lamped him, teach him not to look properly [-(. I've had a few near misses where the loud hooter came in handy but sounds like you had no chance. Hope the bike gets sorted soon.
