Some Chinese Laser-scientist has managed to change the appearance of metals to change their colours by etching them with lasers to change the way the absorb light

From left, aluminum turned a gold color, titanium turned to blue, and platinum turned gold.

Just think - Aluminium fairings and tanks that are "painted" using this technique
