Nurburgring 28th/29th June

Anyone up for the 28th/29th June, planning on heading there for my first 'Ring trip of the seaon (limited earlier by work :( ) ?

So if anyone fancies tagging along, I imagine I'll be travelling out on the Friday, crossing the channel mid morning-lunch time and returning on the Monday. If you're a definite, a maybe or just a dreamer drop a line below.

By the way this will be less organised than Cooerdelion's trip, and I don't mean to tread on his toes here, there will be no guiding, and will be mainly autoroute bashing to and from the ring bar the last 50 miles or so. Also you'll have to book your own accomodation unless I know you well (or you send me a deposit), but I'm happy to let you know where I'll be staying etc.

So come and get those BTG times down or just wonder at the majesty of the Nordschleife, everyone should visit the Green Hell at least once in their life.

PS I may be able to persuade some cages along too, useful for carrying luggage ;)

Now it looks like I've a mate coming along in his M3 BMW (the original 4-cyl type) and a guy from work on his '07 R1 (with nice carbon akraprovic cans). A few more cage drivers look like they might be coming too.

The more the merrier.

Total distance there and back is approx 1000 miles from Teesside goibng via the channel ports/euro tunnel (it was 460 miles from Ripon one way last year). Then at the 'Ring it's 12.5 miles a lap, and I'd be looking to do 12-24 laps depending on weather/ring closure/state of fatigue etc. over the two days. So about 1200-1500 miles all up.

Looks like we're getting the ferry from Hull to Rotterdam now, reduces the mileage to less than 600 there and back.

Ferry booked for 2 so far Hull - Rotterdam Thurs 26th, Rotterdam - Hull Mon 30th.

Booked into the Ringhaus, as it's only 400 m from the entrance to the Nordschleife.

:(

Restricted bikes are allowed on as far as I'm aware, as are coaches, people carriers and all manner of machinery. Even if you just do a couple of laps there are plenty of good roads in the area to explore, using the Nurburgring as a base/trip highlight.

Its not that...I just know I wont be fast enough to keep up; it'd tire me out having to work so hard to keep up! Bad enough going to brands hatch following my dad

Also, when im doing 90mph (tops!!!) and someone in a porsche goes past 100mph faster, I will feel a little scared...

...maybe next year
