After Market exhausts illegal?
Just reading through the pepipoo forum (bored at lunchtime :-) )
found a post talking about a guy in got an asbo for having an exhaust that was too loud: http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?...5&#entry220685 Road Vehicle (construction and use) Regs 1986 were mentioned: Regulation 54 - "every exhaust system and silencer must be maintained in good and efficient working order and shall not after the date of manufacture or be altered so as to increase the noise made by the escape of exhaust gases". Regulation 97 makes it an offence "to use a vehicle in such a manner as to cause any excessive noise which could have been avoided by the exercise of reasonable care by the driver". Enforcement of these requirements is by the police and in the case of maintenance, at MOT So if you change your exhaust and its louder than standard you can be fined. :shaking: Is this true? |
Re: After Market exhausts illegal?
As far as I know... yes... but its mostly ignored, after all there would be no chav's in Novas on the road.

Re: After Market exhausts illegal?
yes but that c**k must have been constantly not taking notice of warnings as to get an ASBO take a bit, first he would have had his car/ bike iezed and paied to get it back that is after he would have been given a first warning about it. So this chopper must have been going to the same spot night after night and reving the tits of his bike and generally being a pain. If he is stupid enough to constantly do it he got all he deserves.

The ART can has NFRU stamped on it, so it'd never pass an MOT if the tester was a muppet. |
Re: After Market exhausts illegal?
I'll let you know when my bike needs an MOT in 2 1/2 years;)
