Oil leak
Noticed an oil leak yesterday on the SV I picked up just before xmas.
Seems to be quite high on the engine, but cant for the life of me see exactly where it is coming from. There is oil right up to where the bottom of the fuel tank can be seen. I went into the dealer (Wyder Honda) in Preston that I bought it from & told them about it. They said bring it in & 'we will investigate it for you' Would I be correct (I dont really know) that there should be a 3 month warrenty on the bike because it came from a main dealer (albeit not a Suzuki dealer) ? Any advice about my warrenty & where the oil is coming from, will be gratefully accepted. thanks, Alan |
Re: Oil leak
check your receipt, it should say on it.

Re: Oil leak
there is nothing on the reciept/invoice that states a warrenty period.
someone I spoke to earlier mentioned a legal requirement for a 3 month warrenty from a main dealer. not sure how true that is though Alan |

Re: Oil leak
Why don't you just ring them?

Re: Oil leak
May be one of the breather pipes from the crankcases to the air filter. Could be a rocker cover gasket. Give the dealers a ring or better still, just pop in for a chat (have the bike with you;)) and they may be very obliging and take a look!
Good luck Rich |
Re: Oil leak
hopeing to get in to the dealer on friday
dealer said 'if its something that needs parts it will be covered. if its a perishable, like a gasket, it wont be covered' thanks for the advice guys - i will post again when i find out the problem Alan |
Re: Oil leak
Alan, it's most likely a crankcase breather pipe thats come off. Have a look at the pipes and see if any are loose.

Re: Oil leak
If it's leaking down the left, it'll be the crank breathers almost certainly, SVs very rarely leak from high up. If I was you, I'd have a look, it's just a case of shoving the hose back on if that's what it is- shame to deal with a garage for that.

Re: Oil leak
i will take a look tomorrow when light to see if that is the problem.
being the first to admit i could write what i know about engines on the back of a stamp, please could someone tell me where i can locate the crankcase breather pipe ? |
