removal of debris on exhaust .
have left some my textile trousers on my exhaust pipes (the pipe work runs right by my leg on my 748r) anyone know the best way to remove it? with of course min marks left behind.
I would not normally wear textile trousers on my ducati but i was actually buying leathers at the time. Thanks all |
Re: removal of debris on exhaust .
You could give WD40 a go, or maybe try Autosol?

Re: removal of debris on exhaust .
I did the same on my GSXR.
Petrol and a green scourer, then autosol got most of it off. I had a few bits left that I chipped away at with a tiny flat blade screwdriver once I had given what was left a good soak in petrol again to soften it up and then used the autosol again to get the scratches out. Came up good as new. Might want to take it careful if you have an after market exhaust on there it might scratch or mark worse than a standard exhaust pipe does. Just try the petrol and then autosol trick with a soft cloth first just make sure you're not going to make things worse. |
Re: removal of debris on exhaust .
Try running it til the zorst is warm as this helps also. I melted part of my cover to the stock can on the SV it wiped right off with kitchen roll while the can was hot!

Re: removal of debris on exhaust .
In my experience if it melts on, it'll melt off- so when I do manage to cleverly turn some of my boot or other gear into an exhaust coating i just run the bike til it's at full temperature then get a good thick wad of kitchen roll and wipe as much of it off as possible. The paper scorches but as long as you've got a good few layers it's safe.

I did this
asked advice the same Fizz told me the petrol trick.. and it worked.. I would run it first to get it hot then a rag with a bit of petrol on .. take care of course.. and lots of elbow stuff then clean up with wd40 and then autosol. I will not be held responsible under C.O.S.H.H if anything mixed creates a nuclear effect.!! |
