Honda

Dealer day today,
Test rode CBF600
Fireblade
VFR800
Hornet 600
CBR600RR

1st It was lovely to ride a new bike, & probably especially because it's a Honda, lovely smooth engine & gearbox, but I'm just not a naked bike person or a handlebar bike person.
Fireblade - all the bike I would ever want rev limiter is 91, 121,141 IIRC or something like that :D
spent most of the ride in 1st gear and loved it!
VFR800 - Loved it! It's got the V growl and VTEC grunt and ABS so all good. It's very upright but the low screen does a fantastic job of keeping the wind off you. Much more useable than the Fireblade.
Hornet better than the cbf, but see above.
Did love the tank which had 2 lips that you can hook your knees under to hold on with when the acceleration's trying to spit you off the back:D
CBR600RR I would still prefer the Fireblade but the 600 is all you'll ever need.

All thanks to MotoSelect in Farnham - top dealer, please support them

blimey! what you riding? The reach to the bars is not that far, so might feel upright, but i find the footpegs much higher than the SV. Have never decked out the VFR...... The noise would be fantastic with the right pipes, just need some! Yes we ate a Fireblade (or two) today. I guess the VFR is similar to an SV in that it is a real world motorcycle.

Re: Honda

CBF600 and then hopping onto a Blade, thats a big contrast i'll bet! Was this the new Blade? Had a sit on the new ones a few times and found it really nut-crushing - how are they comfort wise as opposed to the SV?

Two of my favourite bikes; Hornet and VFR.

I had a Remus GP can on my '98 VFR800 and it sounded like a Nas car!!! Sweet.

I read a lot of the mags and the VFR is a bike that is consistently praised as a quality ride, would be interested in taking a spin on one meself to see what they're like.

I have an 06 VFR as a hire bike.

All I can say is ----- Boring !!!!

Lovely bike in soooo many ways - unbelievably stable, soaks up london potholes, but it seems to be missing something.

I really like it but wouldn't want to keep it.

Had a chat with someone this morning about Viffers and it went something like (slightly edited with regards to names)

Me: VFR's only come in one colour - different shades of Beige
Other: to be fair, Luckypants's looks more silver ;)
Me its silver beige
Other lol
Me just like mine is dark candy red beige.

Maybe if I got it out on the road I would feel different, but the one I have has worse FI than my Pointy had and I hate the way that it sticks the revs up to 2.5k when cold, then drops it - and the VTEC kick in is annoying.

Oh and it drinks petrol.

All I can say is in one month of free use, you obviously haven't ridden it.
Oh, & I had free petrol :D

I can see where you are coming from, it just gets on with the job so seems boring. Get beneath that polished veneer and you still find the endurance racing roots. However, I still hanker after my SV........

IMHO yes you would, it is definitely an open roads bike. Get it up in the VTEC range and keep it there, awesome. The induction roar is addictive.

Badly tuned / set up. Snatchy low revs throttle is well known and needs the starter valves correctly synchronised. Mine is always much better after a service. Same with the VTEC, the second set of valves opening up seems to need synching to the fueling map very closely.

Only with the VTEC in action  I got 170 miles from a tank yesterday. I regularly got over 220KM to a tank in France.

Horses for courses, I like the ability to tour and the bike has more than enough scratching potential for me. Have not decked anything out yet, even though almost to the edge of the tyres.
