Ranty ranty ranto.
My turn to have a rant. You may not care about my reason, you may not sympathise. You may tell me to sod off. But I'm going to rant anyway.
I ordered 100 ml of a chemical called hexamethyldisilazane for my final year chemistry project two weeks ago today. I expected to wait a week, maybe even have to wait till last friday before it arrived and I could use it. Went in on friday, wasnt there. Wasted trip. Told it would arrive on friday sometime during the day; well, I cant hang around all day waiting, so I came ghome, did some work. Went in again today. Looked for the chemical. Asked where it was. Got told "its not here. Could be delivered today, could be here tomorrow". I am cheesed off. More time wasted riding to uni and back, and hanging about in between waiting for the lab technician to come back. Now, its not his fault - he only passes order forms on. But i know that these things can be delivered on a next-day delivery; the order has apparently been made a week or so ago. Why is it taking so long? This is my project time being wasted, and the labs will be closing soon so theres not alot of time for me to try any more coating experiments. Rant over. Back to work. Matt |

Gone through a similar situation a while ago (jeez I'm getting old), it's not even funny. Hope it gets sorted out quick.

Re: Ranty ranty ranto.
I knew you'd understand wolfie. All I want to do is coat my polycarbonate. Thats all. rich-tea it in the HDMS (i.e. One Dip), and let it dry.
Filipe, it'll be funny on friday if my chemicals arrive. The sight of me getting right wound up and shouting is often hilarious :D Matt |
Re: Ranty ranty ranto.
I'd suggest calling ahead before wasting time and journey to find out if its there.
2nd i'd suggest calling the supplier directly (if you can get their details) and asking them what the delay is and explaining to them that its eating into your project time etc as you may get a fuller answer from them than from the guys at your end. You may even find out that its been sent out and has been with your guys for a week or so but some donut misplaced it at your end and doesnt wanna say so cos he'll get in trouble. |

But my flux capacitor turned up on time and I was able to finish coating my polycarbonite time machine.... \\:D/ |
Re: Ranty ranty ranto.
What do you use that chemical for?? Anything you can use instead?? I hear PVA glue is a useful substitute for pretty much anything in the world..

Thats Kingston Uni for you....
I changed one of my modules at the start of the year and they have only just updated blackboard. I think the main problem is that to save cash, they rope students into doing all the odd jobs/admin. If you pay peanuts...you get monkeys! :) |
