Re: Touch up paint
when I rang my main dealer today, they said suzuki don't like doing touch up paint anymore. They put me in touch with these people
http://www.motorbikepaint.co.uk/ the person on the phone was very knowledeable about this touch up business, even took the time to explain about how to do it to a pro finish. They asked who had recommended them and I told them Earnshaws, ahhh we've been supplying them for 12 years or so, that gave me peace of mind if you can do your nails, you can do this,,,,they proclaimed. They required your code, year, model, make. I know where to go now for stuff for my fairings. They can do engine paint, wheel paint any paint by the sounds of it. For my engine I'm doing a cheapo job, cause its not a huge issue. The big scrape up the fairing is. |
Re: Touch up paint
What sort of money are we talking for small (probably smallest available) touch up pot/whatever-it-comes-in?
The only blemishes on my bike are a couple of scrapes on the inner rear wheel, presumably from being taken off and put back on at some time, and two "chips" on the left fork leg, so I don't need more that a thimble-full or two, but I bet that's a different silver anyway. Maybe I'll just spray the whole thing matt black, or use up the many pots of various white gloss paints I have knocking about. Or combine the two textures in a chequered pattern over tyres and all, and sell it to the tate modern for £15,000. |
Re: Touch up paint
as an example..for touching up my Y9H scratches(pearl lively yellow) they were 8 quid a pot. I'd need 3, an undercoat, summat else and the top coat. So thats 24 quid. Not sure how big, but I got a lot o scratches cause shes an old bike. I'm prepared to pay that to do the job right on the fairings etc.
I couldn't tell you about wheels, you'd have to ask them. As for fork legs, that'll be the laquer as they are alli underneath. They quoted me 15 quid for an aerosol of colour matched engine spray, but I'd rather pay 6, as my engines scabby and i'd need a few to do it right. So it would be expensive. Thats why I've been getting ideas ffrom here, and researching alternatives all day Oh and if you call them, to get advice, its a very nice person called Renatte that will point you in the right direction |
