rearset replacement
im getting som GB moto sets at the end of this month
but how easy is it to fit rear sets??? |
Re: rearset replacement
Piece of cake you'll be fine, do they keep the original rear brake light switch? If not you can get bango nuts that include a presure sensor to get over this.

Re: rearset replacement
Almost certainly you'll not get the pressure switch in the kit. Check though.
You will need one as no rear brake light is an MOT failure. Also make sure you get a banjo bolt one with the correct thread. Sorry can't remember the size. I was lucky with the Switch I bought off of ebay. The leads plugged into the OEM plug under the riders seat. Saved having to splice wires together. |
Re: rearset replacement
Yep, it's basically easy apart from that one fiddly detail. I can't remember what size the banjo is either but an reputable seller would be able to tell you.

Re: rearset replacement
Its a very simple job, you will need a single pressure switch Banjo bolt though if the rearsets don't come with the provision to use the OEM spring for the rear brake light.

Re: rearset replacement
I've just fitted diamond race rearsets which are really nice quality. I did find though that the rear brake reservoir no longer reaches the mounting point so I had to sort that out. No need for brake switch on a race bike so didnt bother on that one :-)

Re: rearset replacement
Don't think the rear brake light switch is an MOT requirement, as long as it works on one of the brakes. Three of my bikes only have the brake light working on one brake (two on the front brake, one on the rear only) but it might be that the guy who does my MOT's is just a good egg. If anyone out there knows the rule book for sure I'd be interested to know.......

Well, from what I can figure out from this link, all bikes registered after 1st April 1986 must have a brake light that works from both front and rear levers. http://www.ukmot.com/bike_1-3.asp#Text_top |
Re: rearset replacement
Yes, I'd go along with that. Guess he's a good egg then. Thanks.
