Dzus fairing fastners. Few questions

Do you first need to have in insert screwed into the receiving hole (oo er) and do they turn one quarter to fix? Or are they basically pretty bolts that don't need a tool to use? Are there any quick fixers to go in place of the silly plastic panel clips?

Thanks.
:)

Usually, yes. All retro fit types do.

Most commonly, yes. But I have seen some, (Dzus is a brand as I'm sure you know, there are others), that turn a bit differently.

Correct. Although there are types which have a screwdriver slot.

Very probably.

Cheers Ian. Final quick one, are they worth it? 5 or 6 trackdays, bit of cleaning? Suppose they make the fairings more nickable too.

Exactly what I was thinking, but maybe that's just me being a bit too paranoid?

Maybe a cheap battery screwdriver is the order of the day. The plastic clips are pants though.

I have been known to use an electric drill with hex bits and a 1/4 drive extension to get the tank off quickly. Very nearly went sane as I had to take the carbs off that many times when playing with jetting so did it that way.

My lowers will be getting Dzus fasteners to go in the 3 fixings at the front centre of the join. The stupid push pin clips are next to useless and difficult to reach.

Not really worth it unless you are a last minute fiddler before a race. I'd stay with the usual allen bolts, undone so many now i can do it in a flash with my 2wheeljunkie full road fairing.
