Exams tomorrow

Ok, so I've got the most important exams in my life tomorrow and Thursday, and guess what... I feel like I've done no revision, despite spending every spare minute in the last week doing so.

I keep trying to tell myself that I'll be fine, and snuck a peek at my quote for the day calender for tomorrows entry for some inspiration/reassurance, and it said....

..."Failures are finger posts on the road to achievement"

Great huh? Maybe i should just not bother.

eeep I know that feeling only too well, all the best with it! You'll know far more than you think you do once you get in there and then you'll realize the revision you did do was very much worth doing :smt045

Out of interest, what's it on?

Hiya,

Good luck with the exam! I remember the feeling (and pressure) of exams so the only advice I can offer is this;

1) Im sure you remember more than you realise
2) Have a good nights sleep (staying up until 3am cramming probs wont work)

3) read the question properly! Sounds blindingly obvious but some people just dont read exactly what the question is asking

4) Try and give yourself 5 minutes at the end to read over what you've written/done.

Let us know how it goes :D

A very important point. Also, if there is any ambiguity in the question at all (and you'd be amazed how often there is; I've seen some appallingly poorly written exam questions) state how you are interpreting it before giving your answer. Assuming you don't do it in too cocky a way, the examiner will usually give you the benefit of the doubt and mark it accordingly. Particularly useful if young/inexperienced markers are marking it and they blindly follow the marking scheme, a sort of "I'm sorry, that's right but the answer we were for was..." mentality.

An example would be:

Q: "In the world war, Germany did x,y and z, do you think..."

A: "Assuming the question is referring to World War 1..."

If the reason why the question was unclear is subtle (IE perhaps due to the lack of a comma), explain why you are interpreting it this way. This should help alleviate any suspicion that you are doing it just to answer the question you want to.

NB: Don't bother answering both interpretations of a question, unless you have finished the paper and checked it twice and are just twiddling your thumbs.

Best of luck, yup I didn't read the questions properly in my last exam and dropped 6% which was annoying but I still passed anyway! Good luck:D

Let us know how today goes!

As long as you have learnt the important parts, and read the question carefully, you should be able to use some common sense to work out the rest (at least, sometimes thats what I;ve been able to do)

Good luck!

Re: Exams tomorrow

Well I've finished the exams today. They were 2 day-long exams for an advanced diploma in architectural practice (basically i need to pass them to qualify as an architect) Overall it didn't go too badly - i don't think i messed up any questions too badly! Will have to wait till beginning of may for the results tho.
In the meantime I'm just gonna enjoy my weekend - I haven't had one to myself with nothing to worrt about for around 8 months now. Think I'll take the bike for a spin on Sat.....

P.s Thanks for the well-wishes guys :grouphug:
