What is the blue grease used in my rear axle/spacers on my Daytona?
Put rear wheel on today with the new tyre on it and was wondering what grease is used around the axles and spacers? Heard a funny sound when I ran it in first gear but that might be down to the extremely loose chain which I have to do, or the fact that I've never run it on the paddock stand. The grease on ther is a bright blue colour.
By the way it's a Daytona 675. |

You sure it's grease and not dried loctite 242 (although I can't think why that would be on the axle itself- only the bolt on the end)?

Definately grease. I've read somewhere else it is a pretty general grease, if they're correct.

Used to work in a truck testing laboratory and we used heavy duty grease that was blue in colour, just had a browse and found this. Can't remember if the stuff we used was a Valvoline product.:
http://www.valvoline.com/pages/produ...sp?product=108 Would have thought it would be in the lubricants sectin of the owners manual? |

Yeap, had a tub of that Valvoline at some point. Its just multi purpose grease they've used, nothing special, it comes in different colours depending on the manufacturer that supplies it.

Putoline sell blue waterproof grease, Silkolene do a red one. Flitwick M/cs, who are a Triumph dealer, use the blue stuff on service bikes.
