Prince Harry - down to earth genuine propper geezer or p.r. craving g.i. joseph?

sky news video report on harry in afghanistan

I personally think he's a genuinely nice guy with a standard mischievous streak. I've got mates who've dressed as osama bin laden to fancy dress parties and smoke weed and got upto a lot worse things in their younger years, but are now upstanding family/business people. Harry has done alot of things plenty of other young people have done... (except tw*ting a paparazzi outside a club, I don't personally know anyone who's done that before).

I think he was genuinely desperate to get out to the middle east and take an active role in the armed forces but I do think the reported *breach* of the "media blackout" was a bit of a timed PR stunt (seems a bit convenient for the headlines to read "Breaking news: prince harry serving in afghanistan" but the video imagery coming in was perfectly shot documentary footage and not leaked poor quality footage).

Just wondered what you all think of our 3rd in line tothe throne?

i agree, i like the guy. is a bit of a party animal when he gets going like most young people and can't stop himself. not like he had much choice about being a royal!! but now he's showing a bit of maturity as well out in afghanistan, despite now having to come home as a result of the americans. almost another case of "friendly fire" isn't it?!

interesting, for some reason I'd assumed it was a european media organisation. Just watching skynews when CBS hand back over to Sky with the dubbing "for more upto date news and information visit CBSNews dot"... cut off. love it

Apparently the BBC had an agreement that they could film him and as long as they kept it quiet they could then show what he'd been up to in April, but as per usual the Yanks messed it up.

I think he's an alright fellow but I'm not so sure he should have been sent out there at all. He might be looking over his shoulder for ever now. I think the Army could have just moved him elsewhere, mind you the helmet province must be massive.

Correct, leaked originally by the Aussies but not picked up on until a Yank website made a big thing about it.

My view is he's trying to be as normal a person as he can, which is difficult given his heritage and family. He's willing to put his neck on the line, even if it means the MOD going to extraordinary lengths to create a news blackout, and has proved to be a decent bloke who likes a laugh, just as anyone else does.

Fair play to him, I wouldn't have minded more officers like him when I was in the mob - not that I can recall any particularly bad ones tbh. Only one problem with him...

...he's a ginge :D
