Fitting fairing
 

I am putting the fairing back on a V reg SV, one that had been changed to an un-fared one by the previous owner.
I have a puzzle, there are holes for bolts on the fairing as it nears the frame, but no brackets on the frame, can someone tell me if the brackets are an addition or do I have a frame from an un-fared model.

Nope the frames are the same, the mounting brackets have been removed so it doesn't look odd with no fairing. Are you talking about under the bars and the larger bolt behind the fairing hole in the side?

You'll need the brackets pictured.... plus the radiators are different for S's and N's

Dave is right about the rad although I dunno if you can use the naked rad anyway. The fairing sides clip into rubber locators on the proper rad but I guess you could lop those plastic tangs off and it could well be fine. Might vibrate a bit more is all.

Swap you a naked rad for a faired one?


You can use the faired one if an emergency but the fairing isn't held in too well.

There's 2 pairs of brackets that the fairing bolts to, one about 4" back from the headstock, the other about 9" back,

Mine doesn't have the lugs that mount to the radiator any more, I cunningly broke them off by riding into a van, in order to save weight ;) Makes no difference as far as I can tell.

You could make your own versions of those missing brackets if you want, it's just a big bendy bit of metal. I imagine they'll be irrationally expensive from Suzuki though.

Thanks Pete, just noticed my pic wasn't displayed. The Rads are different but you can get away with using the naked one, as Northwing said.

You'll need brackets for both sides (not depicted in the picture), part 13 and its opposite counterpart and part 10 and its opposite counterpart (part 10 is different depending on what year your curvy is (X-Y or K1-K2)).

Cheers for your help, I managed to make up some brackets for the rear hole on the top of the fairing, attached it to the top radiator bolt, I still don't understand where I put a bracket for the hole in the side of the panel, (16) in the picture.
My next question is where do I get a fittings kit for the lower fairing, bought it off E-bay ages ago and it came with no fittings, I don't know who made it either.

Should be a drilled and tapped hole inside the frame iirc
