Would a new exhaust system mess up my restriction?

as the title says, will a new exhaust mess up my bike if its restricted? im not talking about making it too powerful for the restriction i want to know if the fuel/air mixture from the ecu/cdi play havoc on the bike due to the new exhaust system, also is it possible to use a power commander to restrict the bike?

This is something I've been wondering, considering buying a K3 to replace broken SY- I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you're getting a full system, a slip on probably wouldn't make much difference to the 33bhp bike (at least I'm fairly sure, please correct me if i'm wrong :D). Although, our bikes are fairly puny at 33bhp, being a big bloke (6'6", 17 stone) I can just about touch 105 down a hill, it's nice to have every last drop of power!

hmmmm not sure about restrictions on pointys, but chris has been fiddilin around with his for ages getting mixtures and dynos done right for 33bhp purposes. maybe you could have a chat wid him..he may be able to help

dont worry, problem solved, looking at the dyno for it i would say its fine, i lose 0.4 bhp with the baffles in! the only thing it does is give me more power lower down the revs... £500 for that, no thanks

Dyno's are a little misleading too, they all read a little over "true," so if it comes to court and your bike is making 33.1bhp, you're never going to get convicted as that could be put down to dyno error or any other b0llocks a half decent brief can think of.

This post is actually consequence of an msn convo between me and sweety. I couldn't give an explanation but simply put - I was planning to buy my bike with the exhaust already fitted to it (a scorpion can) I've now been told by the dealer, they arn't sure if they can fit the exhaust because it could cause problems with the restriction, not only an increase in power, but also problems such as cutting out, running too rich etc (this is what they said) I have no explanation of why they say this will happen, only that they say it will.

They have said they will double check if it can be fitted and, if it can they will happily fit at a discounted price at the first service. (That's free fitting + discount on the zorst)

Anyone know what they are talking about?

I got my bike with restrictors in and a viper can on, and it did run horribly. I had really poor fuel economy and it backfired quite a lot too. Took the restrictors out and it runs perfectly. I think in order to have a race can you'd have to spend a while setting it up, but it really isn't worth the fuel problem IMO if you don't.

Has anyone set their bike up with restrictors + after market can?
I'm not even sure if i'm going to keep my restrictors in, good to have just incase, i wouldn't want to have to put them in finding that my bike now runs like a pile of w**k and no stock exhaust to run.

chris will tell you, he managed to get the can to work with restrictors but had all manner of little fueling problems that went with setting it up on his own....now its fine and runs like stink!
