Louder Noise when engaging first gear
Took my gear selector off on the weekend, removed the bent selector and fitter the new replacement peg.
Put it all back together, started her up and was going to check i could get into each gear, which it did, but there is a lot louder noise and like more momentum pushing me forward when it goes into first, rather than just the 'click' type noise that happened before..... Am i just worrying about nothing, or could it be cos the bike has not been used for like a month or so now?? Apart from that i quickly rode up the street and got upto 3rd without an issue, and engaging the other gears seems fine too.... P.S also managed to drop the thing in my garage, luckily it used me as a barrier by pushing me into the wall, and the bike taking most of the fall on my knee!! Ouch!! I think the bike is still ****ed off with me for having the off!! :( I did apologise, what more does she want!!:p |
Re: Louder Noise when engaging first gear
Does it happen all the time? or only when the bike has just been started? At cold, the clutch does drag a little, so when you engage first gear it can kick forward a bit
Is the cluctch properly adjusted? Matt |

Re: Louder Noise when engaging first gear
I would guess at clutch drag due to the prolonged inactivity and cold.
Hopefully once the oil is fully warmed up it'll be fine. :) |
Re: Louder Noise when engaging first gear
I imagine its just cold oil making the clutch drag when you first start up then; go for a good ride, get it warmed up. You sound find it clunking into first gear normally when the oil is up to temp (prob after 10 minutes)
