sv650sf vs zx600 zzr600

Hi I looked at a sv650sf yesterday that I was going to buy Friday. I like the bike and its for street and city so I like the torque. But today I went to a different dealership and they showed me a zx600 2007 that is a discontinued model. I like the seating position and its looks but I need some advice as to which is the right choice for a first time city use bike? It? its not going to be a top end power high way racer. By the way the sv650sf was $7,300 out the door and thezx600 was 7,100 out the door.

well the sv650 makes alot better town bike of course, the zx is a all out supersports 600, a track bike for the road, but if a had the choice of both for the same price? or even cheaper than an sv i would obvoiusly get the zxr? although i dunno how u managed to get a new zxr600 that cheap? last years model or not

It can't be a ZX6r. Surely?

A ZX600 is not the same as a ZX6R or a ZXR600. I believe it might be a different name for the Kawasaki ZZR600 which is a sports tourer model and a very good bike for city use. It has more power than the SV, a comfy riding position and good low down grunt for town work.

However either would make a good bike so go based on condition if 2nd hand or how you like the look of them if new.

It is a zzr600 I called back and asked. The paperwork for my $70 deposit said zx600 but I called back and they told me it is a zzr600. They did tell me that the sv650sf form the other dealership would have more torque. AT least they warned me. I can still pick one or the other but I just want to make sure I’m making the right choice. Please post forum members I am going to give myself till Friday to pick up one or the other. Plus also they only had a sv650s not sf so I would probably have to order it from the factory but as of now I like both equally. I want to make the right choice

I would say they are both too far apart to draw a useful comparison. My only advice would be to demand a ride on each and see what gets you going. For me personally, the SV is easier on my license and is easier to ride in town, nice when i'm feeling lazy. But the fairing on the ZZR is very good indeed and the engine is sweet! pro's and cons.

I guess if you join a ZZR forum, you'll get very different answers ;o)

Depends in what weather you ride as well, no offence meant, but having owned 2 Kwaks and 1 SV in the past.. Kawasakis finish puts Suzukis to shame in every single department.. and Im not kidding on htat bit !

Around town, as others have said.. SV would be best bet, any open roads, long distance stuff, the ZZR will be faster and probably comfier, and not forgetting will have better brakes and susspension to boot.
