Insurance Increase?

Heya All. Quick question. Following my off, my insurance claim has come out about ?1700. My premium as a new ride was initially ?370 and have been riding since October. I am 27. Just wandering if anyone had any views about roughly how much I could expect my premium to rise? Will it be 15% or double etc. I have no clue and am trying to insure I save enough before then to cover it. Cheers Drew

Go online and try getting a quote with your details - should give you a rough idea.

+1

Could be swings and roundabout. You'll have had the claim, but also had a years riding experience. Also the claim is not that much in the scheme of things.

Cheers guys....just did that with mixed results....Bennets - £514.67 with 500 compulsory excess. Ebike - £462 with the standard garage excess etc.Happy with the ebike quote, not so with the Bennets one. But the increase is not as much as I thought to be honest, so happy bout that.

With proper shopping around ou should get it down. MCE at the bike show gave me a great deal (even with claims)

Also to add, I pay exccess insurance on my bike which cost ?30/year. Okay so I'm already paying money out before anything happens. But should I need to claim, that pays my ?500 excess I have to pay nothing more.

I think thats ace, casue I know for sure if I had to claim, the excess pay out would mean, I would struggle that month for cash. Just something to think about, but I pay it along with gap insurance.

Blue - is it possible to do excess insurance through the insurance company? Never heard of it before. I've just taken a Kit Guard policy out also so that I don't have to fork out £500 again for new gear (can't claim mine on contents like some as don't have the away from home cover).

Yeah mine is done through express insurance, as thats who my bike is with right now, but I had H&R insurance before, they did it as well. I'm with express casue, I got the deal for new riders, so I have mega cheap insurance this year, I know next yeat it will be more than the £160 i paid this year.

Its worth calling and asking for sure, as I said I think its a good idea for a rookie rider. Your the same age as me, and don't live London so your insurance should be cheaper than mine. Though I do keep the bike in a garage.

Mine I think covers everything, but they won't pay for kit if I crash and its my fault. So when my insurances end is August I'll see what offers I can get out there:D

I am with express also (actually insured with NIG), with the bike in a garage, as a new rider it cost me ?370. I didn't realise that they did insurance for the excess, will give them a call and find out how much it will be for me. I am amazed at how low your is......was it a promo they were doing? I think mine may have been more because I actually had possesion of the bike before I had done my test, so had to have the bike insured for loss (cause otherwise the finance wouldn't go through).
