steering damper.
my question, is there a steering damper for my curvey sv? i wouldnt mind trying one just to see what its like, i can some times get a lil wobble when going over nasty roads a bit quick or cat eyes etc. wondered if a steering damper would be worth having if so whats about?

Re: steering damper.
Not worth the hassle or expense

Re: steering damper.
right.. so i take it theres no bolt on ones then no? ? ? :D

Re: steering damper.
The old "my bike shakes its head so dampen the steering" doesn't work too well. just covers up the problems. Getting a rear shock to suit you would be far better for the money involved.

Re: steering damper.
i weigh about 8.5 stone a most, what could i do to the rear to make it better then? i only have to have the stock one just over haf way on the adjuster and the rear doesnt move when i sit on it.

Re: steering damper.
If it doesn't move when you sit on it then lower the preload

Re: steering damper.
sorry, still new. pre load? ? ? ? sofen the spring?
|
Re: steering damper.
No preload doesn't soften the spring, just changes where it starts from in its travel.
Back that ring off on the rear shock so it "feels" softer. About 30mm of movement when you sit on it is about right iirc |
Re: steering damper.
Basically, the steering geometry of the Sv means you don't need a steering damper. It's never going to get to the point where it'll shake it's head by design.
Spend your money on new fork springs from Maxton! Carl |
Re: steering damper.
yes you could get one 2 bolt straight on but on a road bike i wouldnt see much point in it but you could try one 2 see what ther like but if thers not much difference with it on you will be out about ?300 quid probley maby more cause you probley wont find a used/2nd hand one as thers very little of them about!
