Rim Tape - what should i know
Yes, i said rim, well done for noticing...;)
Now, after finding myself saying something i never thought i'd say in the LBS - "do you have any fluorescent yellow rim tape?" - i now have some, and was wondering what peoples' experiences were when applying? it's for the DRZ and i have a centre stand that gets both wheels off the ground and spinning freely, i don't really need to take the wheels off like the "instructions" say (that's about all they say) anything else i should know, i have the one with the little plastic applicator so i assume i just get the tape settled then spin the wheel until it's completely round? |

Re: Rim Tape - what should i know
i knew that thread was there, if you look closely i even replied... he was asking about colour choice and it descended into a rim-tape-haters convention;)
i was asking people who've applied it if there was anything they wish they'd known beforehand... |

Re: Rim Tape - what should i know
Where can you get the Rim Tape in 4 quarters because i tried that stuff in the roll and it was ****e tbh.... would like to do mine but its difficult with out a paddock stand and if i try the stuff in quarters i might have a bit of joy.

... 'Rim'... ... tee hee hee. Without a paddock stand it's going to be a tad more difficult - maybe just getting a mate over to hold the bike upright and move it forwards (or backwards depending on the way you are putting said tape on) a little each time you say the word. My only other advice if you are going to go ahead and commit this sin of sins is take it very slowly and steadily, don't over stretch the tape and possibly even mark a guideline onto the wheel first. Use a Chinagraph pencil (get it from most art, craft or hobby supply shops) as these will leave a clear mark that can later be rubbed off - and they won't damage the surface. See - I can do advice as well as childish humour... ... main point being - hit it with a hammer. ;) |

Re: Rim Tape - what should i know
I've never fitted any myself- I like the look on the right bike, mine is not the right bike- but I noticed today at the show that even the sticker stall selling them had put the strips on squint on their display wheel  The sort that comes in a dispenser seem to be easier than the sort that comes on sheets.
