Why oh why oh why do telesales people start their spiel by saying "this is not a sales call"????!!!! :mad: whadda they think we are all thick? :hackedoff:

Register with TPS, takes 2 minutes to do (although a little while to become effective), it eliminates 90%+ of them. Telling the rest you're registered with TPS almost always stops them ringing back.

When we first moved in the window people kept calling, but as we wanted to replace them we invited 4 of them in - ONLY 1 company turned up...........

Makes you wonder if telesales is just to p**s people off.

We actually had to end up calling some more companies to get comparative quotes!!!!

Cos they are actualy not selling you anything, believe it or not.

The guy who they pass your details onto once they have warmed you up will tho ;)

We are registered with TPS and the fax equivalent Ceri, the faxes stopped but the calls just keep coming! :(

2 proven strategies:

1: Act like a pervert(think of what bear would say) Stuff like "what colour is your underwear?" etc

2: Try and sell them something, i usually glance around the room for something that catches my atention. My favourite was my dog. :)

I generally let them do their WHOLE spiel and THEN say 'no thanks'. Then they say the next spiel and I say 'no thanks'. THEN they try the last bit and I wait patiently and say 'no thanks'.

"Oh... *slight pause* alright then... thankyou. Goodbye."

We have a competition at work to see who can get rid of them the quickest without hanging up, being rude, swearing at them etc.

Im in the lead, my record is 12 seconds.

They dont get a chance to warm me up...Im far too frosty ;) I usually shoot them down in verbal flames :smt091 then hang up. ;) :lol:

I work from home so I havent even got the option of ignoring it in case its a potential client :(

Oh and dont get me started on the ones who ignore my "no cold callers" sign, ring on the door bell and say the same thing! :nomore:
