New... just wanted to say Ello...

Hello, New to these forums... just wanted to say hello! - and ask some SV questions.... sorry if this is in the wrong catagory, if so can the mods move it? - just I did have some questions related to this bit of the forum

I have a Direct Access booked for this coming week...:-? God I hate tests!!!

I did the sensible thing though... bought an SV650 before hand!

Going to pick it up tomrw morning. (in a van, of course...)

Just wanted to ask a couple of questions...

1) Am I completely mad?

2) What are people's opinions of the '99 sv650? - its naked, art racing can (slip on)

3) Do people think its a good first bike? (I have been on bikes before, but not in uk... just Spain and Thailand)

4) The bike has about 27k miles on it... so long as its been looked after, should I be expecting many more (will go in for service soon as I get it)

5) I want to get some security for the bike... what do people recommend (alarm/immob/locks etc) - I will be riding the bike pretty much every day, and live in Bristol... so security is a good idea I think!

Cheers in advance!

Mike

I have a 99 curvy naked...it's sweet! I think you have chosen agood first bike.

If you are looking for a chain, get an Almax chain.
http://www.almax-security-chains.co.uk/

There are known amongst those in the know as being the best you can buy. If you do decide to buy one, you can get a discount by saying you are on the Visordown forum. I think you get 10%, so it's worth it.

Good luck with the test!

Mike

it's basically the older model of sv ie. 1999-2002 model. known as this because of it's more curvey styling. whereas the 2003 onwards model has quite a pointy look.

you chose very well in your decision, as curveys are by far the fastest (especially in yellow) and better looking!! ;)

Ah! thats okay then...

its actually described as blue with gold flex... not got it yet (tomrw... can't wait! lol!) I wonder what the effect the blue flex (flecks i think!) will make on the speed... maybe it will give it more torque???

One more question... whats the s... as in sv650 or sv650s...

Mike
(sorry to sound so dumb... just I have not got it yet, so i am wondering what model it is in fact!!!)

Edit: Here is a piccy of said bike...

The SV650S is the one with the half fairing, yours, being nekkid will just be a SV650.

Post pics when it arrives so we can poke fun at your lawn/garage/whatever else is in the background ;)
