Help identifying engine knocking

Anyone in the Bracknell/ Crowthorne area fancy helping identify what the knocking is from the engine on my Curvy?

I started it up and got halfway down my road this morning before thinking.... hmmmm... that doesnt sound good.

Does it disappear when warmed up?

Could be cam chain tensioner. I assume you've chcked oil levels etc?

Oil levels are fine and it doesnt disappear when warm.

The sound seems a bit duller than I imagine the cam chain tensioner would sound... I'm thinking it might be big ends....

Went home at lunch to have another look at the oil levels.... they are fine.

With the bike running i did a visual of the front cylinder. The front HT lead was moving in time with engine. Pressed down on cap and noise seemed to disappear.

I reckon I have a loose spark plug. Will investigate further tonight if its light enough when I get home

But surely if it was not seated correctly it would not fire????

How odd.

Was definitely a loose spark plug. Got home last night and tightened it up and its as quiet as a mouse

That is so weird. If it were loose enough to rattle about it shouldn't have been firing.

Glad it's fixed now though.
