Does your SKY tv "pause" while your watching it?

Maybe its just my box, or maybe its just my signal, but when I'm watching sky it keeps pausing for a second or two then starts up again and I've missed what was happening:smt093
It's doing my head in. It's sometimes even worse when I record something on sky+ and watch it back. It's just unwatchable

I would complain about it but we're moving next week so I'll see if that sorts it out. Does anyone elses sky do it?

Yep ours does it from time to time - if it gets bad, reboot it but powering down, leavign for 30 secondas and switching it back on - when I say power down I mean pull the plug.

Is your Sky box under the TV with other stuff on top of it? It may be getting too hot. Our NTL box played up a lot, moved it from under the DVD player and made sure it was getting air and it's been OK since....

Mine doesn't pause but it does freeze up every once in a while but like Soulkiss said, powering down and then back up again seems to cure it.

It might be a loss of signal or a reduced strength of signal is the problem; mine starts to stutter if there's thunderstorms and the signal strength is low (quality and strength of signal can be seen through the services menu).

Could be your other half pressing pause when you're not looking, just for a larf?? ;)

It has got a video on top of it and a dvd player beneath it. So could well be that. I'll try the power off thing first though

Our box seems OK but the digital receiver on the new TV gets this problem every now and again when the weather is a bit dodgy plus channel 5 is never brilliant due to the position of the transmitter for here.

Maybe your aerial has shifted a bit in the high winds??

Have you got any plants/trees obscuring the dish.

My gf's mum has ivy/bushy things on her cottage and periodically it grows over the dish causing the same fault.

There is a little menu you can get into so you mess with the hidden settings / Installer Setup.

When you reset the system you will lose all programs saved and all recording ready to be recorded.

WARNING: I can not and will not be held accountable for anyone messing up the sky box / hard disk.

press these key on the sky remote:

There's nothing in there that will help with a problem like this. As other people have said, it's either overheating or it's losing the satellite signal. If it loses the signal for more than a few seconds, it should display a 'Satellite signal lost' message.

I'd reset it by unplugging it and then plugging it back in. I'd also move it, so that there's nothing on top of it. Overheating probably kills more Sky boxes than anything else. That's why the newest boxes have curved tops - so that you can't stand anything on top of them.
