Gravel in tyre - another noob question

Hi all

The last bike ride I was on, I ended up going through a whole bunch of roadworks sites and on getting back home a load of gravel had stuck in the tyres. Some had just dented the tyres which was no problem but some had gone right onto the tyre and on getting them out they left some small tears in the rubber...

Just wondering if these tears are anything to worry about - is there a limit to how many tears would lead to the tyre needing replacing?

i've got Dunlop D208s btw

Sorry for the noobie questions...

It shouldn't cause any problems. Just think of them as extra tread!

If your tyres are low on tread though, just be sure that the cuts do not go down to the canvas carcass of the tyre.
