IXS Leathers - any good ?

Ive just bought a load of gear from one of the guys at work including an IXS leather jacket, I think its part of a two piece set as it has a zip inside, question is, are they any good ? in other words is it worth forking out for a pair of matching leather bottoms to match or spend my money elsewhere ? Quite like the jacket just wondering what anyone else thought.

I've got some of their boots and i'm far from impressed, took the first pair back when when a (non-structural) seam tore and the replacement pair are doing the same, over just a couple of months of light use. I won't be buying anymore.

Afternoon Stewie,

I bought a pair of IXS gore-tex leather gloves on holidays about three odd years back and I've used them in all weathers/season for about 15000km and they've been great. No tears/seam issues, even after a slow speed (20km/h) off, and they remain waterproof to this day. I'd buy they gloves again tomorrow no worries.
So they you have it two greatly conflicting reports. Hope that helps! ;-)

Re: IXS Leathers - any good ?

I crashed twice in IXS leathers, once quite heavily at 80+, they scuffed up badly but stood up to it well without holing and I was still using them 3 years later. My eldest daughter crashed her IXSs heavily too on a trackday at Mallory and managed to put a small hole in the shoulder right in the middle of a piece of armour - she gaffa taped it up then sewed a large NGK cloth patch over it and was still using them until she bought made to measure Hideouts a year later. I was happy with mine and they're still being used by a friend's daughter when she goes on the back of her dad's bike - My daughter left hers behind at Hideout for them to throw out because she couldn't be bothered to take them home.
