anyone a plumber just quick tap Q?

hi

want to put outsde tap in my garage- boiler is in there.

u know one of those self thread jobs..

however there are 4 pipes.!

one has a stop on it that leads to another pipe with a screw thread on- this is to top up the boiler is it not ..

would I need to put the tap on the pipe with the stop on - that the cold rising main.. ?

and below the stop..

dont wanna flood the place.

or should I use a bucket of water. ! which means carrying it all way down from my apartment to the bike .. hmmmm

Put in a T piece to the filling loop. If it's a combi it must have a filling loop or valve somewhere, should do anyway.

yea that explanation above I think is the filling loop.

I was going to get one of those cost a tenner screw in diy taps ..

If you mean self cutting tap to connect onto the copper pipe don't they're crap.

If you're going to do it turn the water off and T into it properly. you can use a compression fitting so you don't need to do any soldering. Then fit a bib tap onto the wall

What the man above said. Previous tenants here did one of those self tap taps. It leaks and I can't use it. Grrrr.

They really are rubbish, half the time they squash the pipe rather than cut into it and leak the other half of the time they just leak

I will stick with a bucket

just washed it took two buckets so i think thats the way- no drain near the garage though so have to pop it on the front of the house .. looks like I am posin !!.

well I AM !!

i was maybe a tad too liberal with the hosepipe in the past anyway .

Quiff it is really easy to fit an outside tap if you need to. You can get all you need from B&Q for about a tenner

you would need;

compression T fitting (saves having to solder anything)
Bib tap with a backplate elbow
and a bit of copper pipe

or if you want to be really lazy you could use speedfit stuff but it costs a little bit more

the silver flexi hose is the filling loop, if you were to open the side that connects to the larger diameter pipe you could fill a bucket with that but make sure you don't loosen the non return valve
