Soulkiss's week - An interesting one....
 

It all started to get interesting on Wednesday on my way to work.

Was filtering slowly up the left side of a Tautliner truck, when my brake lever caught on one of the tension straps - no damage to bike, or me - but it did leave me with a busted Master Cylinder.

So after panicking having found out a new master cylinder is £200 with a 2 to 3 week wait, the kind Mr Jambo (he doesn't just do SV'S) mentioned a spare he had from a ZX6, so arrangements were made, and on Thursday night the swap was made.

The reason for the panic (and for me being slightly late to meet Jambo) was that I was due to head to the end of the M42 to do some LARPing, and the reason for being late was due to me having to go get a new sleeping bag - yep I was camping out in sub-Zero temeratures, good thing that the new sleeping back had a comfort rating to -12 and good all the way down to -17 :)

So was on my way there, and stopped at the Oxford Services to thaw out a bit - it REALLY was cold on the bike.

I pulled into a space in the Filling Station car park, next to a Triumph Tiger 955, went, got a hot drink and headed back to find the owner of said Tiger standing next to his, just as a recovery-type van pulled up.

Asked him what the problem was - he had only gone and filled up at a diesel pump by mistake, fortunately being alerted to the mistake by the cashier before he started it.

So I stood and chatted while hs tank was pumped dry and saw it start with a fresh tank of unleaded and small puff of smoke :)

So fought my way through hail, spent a weekend shivering and drinking (pics to follow) and then made my way home.

At the Oxford Services (again - I advise avoiding them there seems to be some strange anti-motorbike mojo on that place) I was returning to my bike to find a young couple obviously having some issues with a familiarily shaped motorbike.

Turns out the "new" (to him) K4 Blue Pointy he had was playing up.

So having asked if they were having problems, upon hearing that the bike would suddenly lose power no matter how much throttle, and considering the damp weather, I sent him into the shop to get a can of WD40, while I loosened the bottom radiator bolt and loosened the front spark lead.

A generous spray of WD40 later and the bike started up and ran properly.

So with their thanks I headed back to the Zed and finished my journey home, which was remarkably easy through London from Hanger Lane.

Then this morning I dropped the Zed in for its 1st 600 mile service with only 240 miles more than that on it :)

So, 840 miles in 24 days, not too bad really :)

So a good week, some spannering, some riding and a bit of LARPing too :)

Umm is this not part of your bike then? :p

Sounds like an interesting journey you had. How's the Zed holding up on long journeys comfort and wind wise?

The bit left on the bike was fine, and the lever is back on the new cylinder :)

What I WAS of course meaning is that the bike wasnt dropped, or damaged APART from the MC :)

Comfort wise its fine, Vixis is not a huge fan of the pillion seat.

Wind wide - well as I had a tankback on (actually the Sherpa Bagster set) I couldnt see the clocks, but it WAS an excellent windbreak :P)

Also with the tent, 2 sleeping bags etc on the back I was well wedged in - I was frozen on my arms, regular temp on my chest and too warm at my back.

Oh and just had a call that its ready for pick-up :)

I'm amazed you managed to snap that and not drop the bike! I'd have thought you'd need to be going at a fair rate of knots to break it! Good thing though :)

Was literally doing < 5mph, probably closer to 2.

Couldnt believe it really, on the SV I have clipped with the mirror and had more "feedback" through the bike.

Still bodged for now - going to be replaced by a SVN one so as to get rid of the remote reservoir.

Shame the cashier authorised the diesel pump for a motorbike :roll:

Ahh welcome to the world of Kawasaki's version of cheesium - I reckon its the left overs other manufacturers leave behind! :grin:
