On-board recording
I have a bracket which fits at the filler cap but..... my dvd recorder can't handle the vibrations and cuts the filming off after a few minutes.
I have been looking for something "competitavely" priced and am thinking of either/; Oregon ATC 2000. I like the simplicity and water resistance (could use it for kitebuggying and kayaking also). Not too keen on the fact that there's no viewfinder/screen to see what you are recording. or... Samsung VPMX10. I like the fact that it is a proper camcorder so picture quality should be pretty good. Not too keen on the fact that as a proper camcorder it may be a bit more delicate than the ATC2k and that it may not stand up to the elements as well. I ask the mighty 'org for their opinions and if anybody has experience of something different at a competetive price I would be interested in what you have. |

Even on its lowest quality setting (320x240 @ 500kbps its pretty good, a few artifacts, but still good) At high quality (720x480 @ 3Mbps) its pretty amazing. Only problem is the A3 runs to over £300, mine came in from the states where it still cost £180. |
Re: On-board recording
I have the atc2000. it is a good budget camera. the quality is excellent. the sound is ok on the bike but you do get wind noise (as you do at silly speeds)
The battery life aint great. it takes 2x AA batteries to get half an hour of high quality video. Once you have used it a few times you get used to angling the camera to get the best action shots. check out the videos of my on bike footage in my signiture. The videos you get are better quality i just had to scale them down to fit on youtube. Hope this helps. |
Re: On-board recording
I got a complete kit (camera and recorder) from a new company. Currently only selling on ebay, but the gear is good. All you need to buy extra is batteries and an SD memory card (I'd recommend getting a better mount too - dogcam's sucker mount is the one I've got).
It works great and I can get 3 hours of video on a single 2Gb SD Card (on 1 charge of the batteries). I have a video up on YouTube at the moment, but it doesn't do justice to the quality from the camera. He has offered 10% discount to anyone from the .ORG (that makes it ?150.49 inc P&P). http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=its%3DS%252BI |
