It's not what you know, it's who you know!

Ok, I am in the poistion where I can take a total career change. One of my thoughts is to get involved in behind-the-scenes professional motorcycle racing (thinking small team BSB to start with, ultimately MotoGP).

Thinking of existing skills that I could transfer to something to do with motorbike racing, I quite like the idea of getting involved with the datalogging and corresponding data analysis side of things. But I have no idea where to find out about opportunities.

On the off chance does anyone have any 'leads' of whom I can speak to.

At the moment all I can do is to look up existing race teams and see if I can find a contact number. But if someone 'knows' someone that'd be a real bonus :)

Dunno if theres a bike version of 'autosport' but that might be good place to start, I know cos I applied to Williams about 5 yrs to be one of there truckers, still waiting for reply, guess I didnt get the job then ;) but why not contact all the teams you can and just pick everyones brains, the worst they can do is tell you get lost. good luck.

Blue you may be a little too old but I was browsing facebook the other day and something caught my eye. It was a Uni course in the technological aspect of racing etc. The lads who had attended the course, one is now working for Tech 3 Yamaha with Colin Edwards.

Will see if i can find anything, but its a uni course and you will probably look at it in the light I did, I can't afford not to work...

Cheers, I actually saw that linked in another thread a few days ago, interesting, but 3 years without income (worse still paying fees) and having to move to Wales in the HOPE you can one day get a job with a race team ..

I think it would be better to go for a top-down approach and if I find out that there is no way unless I have that on my CV, then it is a non starter ;)
